KUCHING: An online gambling suspect has been arrested by Padawan police during a raid at Mile 7, Jalan Penrissen.
The raid led by Batu Kawa police station chief Inspector Syahrulhafizy Ghazali, took place around 2.30pm on Monday (Sept 6).
Padawan police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan, who confirmed the case, said the 24-year-old suspect was spotted behind the reception counter in the gambling den.
“The team detained him for questioning as he was believed to be doing online gambling top-up sales.
“It led to the seizure of cash amounting to RM272, a phone and a piece of paper bearing numbers believed to be for identification purposes and passwords,” he said.
Aidil noted that both seized items and arrestee were taken to the police station for further processing.
The case is being investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.
