MIRI: Three schools in Marudi were affected by flood following a recent rainstorm.

Affected schools were Sekolah Menengah Kerajaan (SMK) Tutoh Apoh, Sekolah Kebangsaan(SK) Penghulu Baya and SK Long Panai.

Floodwaters reached up to four feet high in the recent incident and despite being badly affected, no evacuation was necessary as the situation was under control, Miri and Beluru Disaster Management Committee Secretariat Captain (PA) Usman Harto said on Saturday.

Following the conditional movement control order (CMCO) and the implemented home-based learning, no students or teachers were at the schools’ premises.

Meanwhile, firemen have been deployed in Sibuti as several low-lying areas were reported flooded as of 3pm today.

The affected areas were Rumah Lingu, Sungai Pakut, SK Rumah Tinggi, Jambatan Rumah Jeli Sungai Merah and Kampung Tegageng jetty in Niah.
