MIRI: The festive spirit came alive at the Methodist Children’s Home here, where the local Youth Care Team organised a heartwarming Lantern Festival charity event called “Share Love.”
The celebration, filled with dinner, games, and lanterns, brightened the lives of the children and brought deeper meaning to the upcoming Lantern Festival.
Private secretary to Datuk Sebastian Ting, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industries, and Performing Arts of Sarawak, Chia Kah Frung, attended the event on behalf of Ting.
He expressed his gratitude towards the volunteers, describing their contributions as invaluable.
“Volunteers show true love through their actions, bringing colour and hope to communities in need,” said Chia.
He emphasised that the charity activity was the best gift for the children at the Miri Methodist Children’s Home, as volunteers spent time playing games with the children and shared a warm meal together.
Chia highlighted the lasting impact that the volunteers’ dedication had on the children, saying, “Their wholehearted attention, patient guidance, and sincere companionship not only brighten the children’s lives but leave a deep impression in their hearts during the festive season.”
The evening was filled with joyous activities, where children carried lanterns, played games, and guessed riddles, creating an atmosphere of celebration and love.
Chia stressed that the purpose of the event was to immerse the children in the beauty of traditional celebrations, while also allowing them to feel the warmth of community support.
“We hope that everyone continues to spread love so that every beautiful moment has a positive impact on those around us,” Chia added.
He also expressed hopes for more such events in the future, ensuring that the spirit of giving and love continues to touch the lives of those in need.
The Lantern Festival charity event was a memorable and heartwarming evening for the children, reminding them of the joy that comes from connection, love, and community.
