DUBAI: The Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) took part in the 30th Arabian Travel Market in Dubai from May 1 to 4 under the Tourism Malaysia (TM) Pavilion at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC).
Themed ‘Working towards Net Zero’, STB highlighted the cutting-edge sustainable travel trends that will develop and create growth plans within important vertical industries.
It is notable that the highlight is consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals that STB has focused on – SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 17 (Partnership for the Goals), which it has been promoting as responsible tourism.
STB deputy chief executive Suriya Charles Buas expressed that their participation in Arabian Travel Market was a great opportunity to further create awareness on the distinctiveness of Sarawak towards the Middle East market segment.
“I believe Sarawak’s distinctiveness and effort in upholding the pillars of Responsible Tourism is a great promotional point to position Sarawak as a choice of stopover in Malaysia.”
Through Culture, Adventure, Nature, Food and Festivals (CANFF), Sarawak’s products were highlighted and expected to attract tour agencies, potential investors, business interests alike and international visitors.
Also, the annual iconic Rainforest World Music Festival was also introduced to the potential buyers to be promoted alongside their products and had received very positive responses.
Nonetheless, the travel market is a prospect for the promotion of the newly launched Global Sia Sitok Vacation (GSSV) packages, where all non-Sarawakians are welcomed to take advantage of the custom packages and special discounted rates.
The visitors can choose from over 140 travel and lifestyle packages and enjoy a RM100 discount for purchases over RM250. The packages can be accessed through the Enjoy Sarawak app that can be downloaded through Google Play and Apps Store.
More than 64 exhibitors from Tourism Malaysia Pavilion participated at the ATM 2023 ranging from the hotels, destination management companies, tour operators, and state tourism boards.
