MUKAH: More than 1,500 residents and visitors thronged Kaul Petanak 2023 which got off to an enthusiastic start at the Kuala Sungai Petanak beach here today.
Deputy Economy Minister Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib, who is also Mukah MP officiated the event.
She felt the festival had great potential for Mukah tourism and could be a medium to promote the uniqueness of the Melanau culture from the aspect of clothing, handicrafts, food, games and dance.
Towards this end she hoped the residents of Kampung Petanak and Mukah in general will always observe this festival regardless of age, race and religion.
Also present was Penghulu Edmund Innu Sebli, Chairman of the 2023 Kaul Petanak Committee.
Kaul Petanak which was launched on Feb 25 will culminate on Mar 5.
