MIRI: A homeless man was found dead on the five-foot way of the old Miri Resident’s Office building, Jalan Raja here today.

The discovery was made around 3.12pm by a tourist guide, who happened to be in the area for location scouting.

The deceased, aged 62, was found lying motionless at the corner of the five-foot way, covered in ants.

The tour guide, aged 27, immediately alerted the authorities.

A police team and Miri Hospital medical personnel rushed to the scene following the alert.

Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, when contacted later, said no foul play was involved in the man’s death.

It is believed that the deceased had been dead for more than 24 hours before the discovery.

The body was taken to the Miri Hospital morgue for post-mortem.

“The case is being classified as sudden death,” said ACP Lim.
