SIBU: Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) Bawang Assan Branch has organised the SABERKAS Sepak Takraw tournament in conjunction with the SABERKAS Sports Carnival 2024 held at SK Tanjung Penasu here.

The two-day tournament which started from Sept 14 to 15 was officiated by the Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Community Development team leader, Cr. Kevin Lau Kor Jie who represented the SABERKAS Bawang Assan branch chairman and political secretary to the Premier, Romeo Christopher Tegong, today (Sept 15).

Lau thanked the SABERKAS Bawang Assan Branch organising committee for organising the tournament.

This tournament, he noted, is to produce calibre players who will represent at the state level.

He hoped that with this kind of activity, more youth will join SABERKAS and this will encourage more activities for the youth in the Bawang Assan community.

“This tournament not only encourages our participants to engage in healthy activities but more importantly to build friendships.

“During a programme like this, players are often competitive but we can’t lose sight of building and nurturing stronger relationships and friendships for a more united community,” Lau explained.

Therefore, Lau also thanked the support of SK Tanjung Penasu for providing the hall so that the players can have a nice and comfortable environment for the competition.
