KUCHING: The Malaysian Pepper Board (MPB) continues to move in line with the National Agricommodity Policy 2030 (DAKN 2030) by devising comprehensive programmes which encourage the growth of the performance of the pepper sector.
In stating this, MPB Chairman Baharuddin Datuk Mokhsen said that MPB, as one of the agencies under the Ministry of Plantation Industry and Commodities, plays a role in the development of the pepper industry in the aspect of research, increasing production and development of pepper.
“Currently, MPB’s core business is focusing on plant service activities, market promotion, processing and research and development (R&D).
“Meanwhile, trading activities (pepper buying and selling activities) have been carried out entirely by a wholly owned subsidiary of MPB.”
Baharuddin said this at the MPB-DAKN 2030 Strategic Plan and MPB Service Award held at a hotel here, last night.
He added that MPB had organised a Strategic Action Plan Workshop which saw the involvement of 56 MPB management and officers.
“The workshop was held to review the action plan which requires completion as well as the formulated targets in addition to creating an understanding of DAKN 2030.
“The cooperation and support from all parties, whether at the internal level of MPB or industry players, are also essential to the success of each project and programmes that have been planned,” he said.
With regards to MPB Service Award, Baharuddin said the night ceremony included the Excellent Service Award (APC) for the year 2021 and the Loyal Service Award (APS) for the year 2022.
“APC is usually known as a form of recognition given to civil servants who have shown excellent work performance throughout the assessment year.
“Meanwhile, APS is an appreciation for employees who have served for a long time in a permanent position in addition to appreciating the efforts and contributions made during their services,” he added.
Baharuddin extended his congratulatory wishes to all recipients and hoped that the recognition would be a catalyst for all MPB employees to continue working efficiently and productively with high commitment.
