SRI AMAN: The State Special Monitoring Task Force will ensure that the implementation of development projects throughout the state is done according to schedule and budget as well as achieve their objectives.
Sarawak Economic Planning Unit (EPU) director Dr Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel said the special task force would also identify and resolve issues and problems encountered in the implementation of the projects at the beginning to avoid any delay.
“In addition, the task force must also ensure that the projects are carried out using effective and efficient methods; comply with rules and guidelines, and benefit the targeted group,” he said.
Among others, activities for the special task force include meetings, periodic site visits and discussions as well as dialogues with stakeholders, namely the implementing agencies, contractors and target groups.
The State Special Monitoring Task Force was established during Sarawak Development Monitoring Committee meeting chaired by State Secretary Datuk Amar Jaul Samion on July 27.
There are 12 teams of the task force led by permanent secretaries of state ministries and directors of state and federal agencies to act and prepare specific reports on the implementation of state and federal government projects to the State Secretary.
Sarawak EPU will lead the task force in Sri Aman Division while Sri Aman Resident Indit Bangai is appointed as secretary, Muhammad added.
He said this when attending the Sri Aman’s task force meeting at Sri Aman District Council last Wednesday.
The meeting deliberated on the implementation status and issues raised in the projects as well as solutions to avoid any delay in works.
After the meeting, a randau (dialogue) session with the contractors in Sri Aman Division and a walkabout programme to monitor the projects on the ground were held.
The delegation visited the Waterfront Upgrading Project (Pesta Benak Site) and upgrading works of SK Melugu in Sri Aman.
