MIRI: Miri City Council (MCC) has clarified in a statement that the Pasar Minggu Lutong is not ready for operations.
Tuesday’s (May 11) statement was released in response to former Pujut assemblyman Dr Ting Tiong Choon’s post on social media about the status of the upgrading and extension work on Pasar Minggu Lutong.
MCC said construction was completed in early May 2021 and the project was yet to be handed over by the contractor to MCC for inspection and certification should everything turn out satisfactory.
However, in preparing for the eventual move-in, MCC had started the initial preparatory works of demarcation of the floor area to determine the possible size and number of stalls that can be accommodated.
Pasar Minggu Lutong is one of the state government’s projects to improve the living conditions and wellbeing of the local community, including in rural areas.
Piasau assemblyman Datuk Sebastian Ting had previously bid for funds to implement this project.
