KUCHING: With immediate effect, Kuching City South Council’s (MBKS) market traders with Covid-19 related symptoms will not be allowed to trade until they have recovered.
Its mayor Datuk Wee Hong Seng said that this is to ensure the health and safety of the traders as well as the public.
“Anyone with symptoms is not allowed to trade. This has been stated in the condition of traders’ permit now,” he said during his weekly live streaming entitled ‘Shall Wee Talk’ on Saturday (Sept 18).
He said these are among the things the council is putting forward to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“When the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) decides on something, the council will make sure that the procedure still follows up,” he said.
Wee added that there may not be a perfect procedure, but MBKS is doing its best to see the best procedures that can be implemented to keep everybody safe.
“We need to plan and act faster than the virus. Thus, criticising or complaining will never solve the problem.
“Action is needed and we try our very best as a council to prevent the further spread of this Covid-19 from happening,” he said.
