KUCHING: Kelab Belia Proaktif has announced the upcoming traditional food workshop and competition, set to take place on Aug 31 at Borneo Glamping Campsite 1, located in the picturesque Borneo Highlands.

This event is part of the Merdeka Glamping celebration organised by Borneo Glamping and is proudly supported by the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts.

President Shenton Tan said the workshop and competition will focus on the rich culinary heritage of Sarawak, featuring traditional dishes such as ayam pansuh and lemang.

“These iconic dishes represent the unique flavours and cooking methods of the indigenous communities in Sarawak, offering participants a chance to learn, cook, and compete in a friendly and culturally enriching environment.

“We are thrilled to bring this event to life as part of the Merdeka Glamping celebration.

“Our goal is to help people connect with our cultural roots through the art of traditional cooking, and we encourage everyone to come and participate.”

She added that the club also emphasised the importance of encouraging youth to embrace outdoor activities and equip themselves with diverse skills.
