SIBU: The body of a 23-year-old man, reported missing last week, was discovered on Tuesday (Sep 9) near Wharf Toung Aik Shipyard Sdn Bhd, Batang Igan, after a four-day search and rescue (SAR) operation conducted by the Sibu Fire and Rescue Station (Bomba).

The search, initiated on September 6, transitioned into its fourth day by September 9. At 10.07 pm, the Sungai Merah fire station received a distress call seeking aid to recover a body sighted amidst logs between ships stationed at the aforementioned wharf.

Upon reaching the scene, the rescue team, in collaboration with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Civil Defence Force (APM), orchestrated the retrieval of the body using an APM vessel.

The recovery mission concluded at 11.32 pm, although the identity of the deceased remained unconfirmed initially. By 5.54 am on September 10, authorities verified that the recovered body belonged to Aaron Wisely, who had tragically drowned.

Aaron was last spotted departing his residence at Kem BN 10 PGA Sibu on September 5, approximately around 8 pm, to inquire about his salary at a bank. His disappearance was reported subsequent to the discovery of his Yamaha Y15ZR motorcycle with the registration number QS 4666L, left on Lanang Bridge.

As per his father, the individual who lodged the missing person report, Aaron stood at around 180 cm tall and was attired in a black shirt paired with long black sports pants at the time of the incident.
