KUCHING: Trainees of the recent completed Fifth Series 2024 Auxiliary Police Basic Training Course said the course has shaped them into becoming a more responsible person.
One of the trainees, 25-year-old Marcus Ridd who received the honour of Best Overall Training Trainee, stated that the course has helped him become a more disciplined person.
“Not only has it made me more disciplined, but this training has also taught me valuable skills and the importance of punctuality.
“Another experience I have gained during this training session is learning how to properly handle a weapon, especially since I am still a beginner,” he said to Sarawak Tribune after attending the closing ceremony of the Fifth Series 2024 Auxiliary Police Basic Training Course at the Malaysia Police Training Centre (PULAPOL) here on Friday.
Additionally, Feliecia Suyu, aged 25, who received the honour of the Best Outdoor Training Trainee were excited, as the course, which lasted for two months is not a short period of time.
“There are so many challenges we endured during this course, we have to not only undergone academic course, but also other trainings such as running test 2.4 kilometrs, drill test and attending weapon class.
“That is why, during the ceremony, we were filled with excitement to serve the community and committed to upholding greater discipline in our duties as auxiliary police,” said Feliecia.
On another note, 45-year-old Francis Ganam, who received the honour for Best Academic Trainee, said this was the third time he attended the course.
“Even though I have been with the auxiliary police for a very long time, there is no limit when it comes to gaining knowledge, and we always start from zero.
“That being said, we will use the knowledge that we learn during our time here at PULAPOL, and implement it when we are on our duty at our respective agencies,” said Francis.
For the record, the training course began on August 4 and completed on Oct 4, with a total of 212 trainees participated in it, comprising 18 women and 194 men.
The closing ceremony of the training course was officiated by PULAPOL Commadant Senior Assistant Commisioner Zulfikar Mohd Ghazali.
Carrying the motto “Training Ensure Excellence”, the vision for the training is towards the modern and world level policing through a dynamic and systematic training, with its mission to provide modern, world-class police training to produce individuals who are integral, knowledgeable, and highly competent, making Malaysia a peaceful, safe, and prosperous country.
