KOTA SAMARAHAN: The Ministry of Transport Sarawak (MoTS) will take stern action against incidents of oil spills on roads, which pose significant accident risks.

Deputy Minister for Transport (Aviation and Road), Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said the ministry will monitor areas reported to have oils spills to prevent accidents.

“We need to take this matter with the utmost seriousness because it can cause fatal accidents, especially for motorcyclists.

“They (motocyclists) cannot clearly see the oil spills on the road, and this may cause harm to them.”

Dr Jerip said this after officiating the Samarahan Division Road Safety Campaign 2024 at the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) Hawker Centre, at the Batang Samarahan Bridge, on today (May 28).

He added that the ministry will also look more closely into the matter and strict action will also be taken against those who are negligent.

“These oil spills usually occur due to negligence in terms of truck and car tanks that are not properly maintained.
