Trapped driver freed in 20 minutes

BINTULU: A team of firemen yesterday morning helped rescue a 24-year-old man who was trapped in his four-wheel-drive (4WD) after a crash at Tanjung Kidurong.

The accident happened near Bintulu Golf Club.

According to Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Operations Centre, a team of nine firemen from Bintulu fire station was rushed to the scene after responding to an alert at 8.10am.

Sources added that the 4WD had veered off the road and slammed into a tree.

Following the crash, the driver was pinned in his seat.

It took the firemen less than 20 minutes to help rescue and remove him safely from the vehicle.

The injured driver was immediately rushed to Bintulu Hospital for medical treatment.
