SARIKEI: A lorry driver, who was stuck in his lorry after it crashed along Jalan Selalang here this morning, had to tolerate the pain for almost an hour before he was rescued by the authorities.
The accident happened at 9.58am when the 30-year-old man was on his way to Sarikei.
A spokesman from the Sarawak Fire Department operations centre said firemen from Sarikei station were promptly despatched to the scene to commence extrication works.
Upon arriving, they found that the victim was stuck between the dashboard and the driver’s seat.
The team managed to extricate the injured driver out of his trapped situation using special equipment called ‘Res-q Tech’ and a wincher from the fire truck.
He was then handed over to the paramedics for immediate treatment.
The team ended the operation at 11.05am after ensuring that the situation was safe for other road users.
