MIRI: Nine reporters from New Sarawak Tribune excelled at the Kenyalang Journalism Awards (KJA) 2022 by clinching 16 awards from different categories.
The reporters are Gabriel Lihan Apat Ferguson, Sarah Hafizah Chandra, Neville Timothy Sanders, Nura Valentiana Lorna, Noor Syahhira Hady, Goh Pei Pei, Clement Erik Wong, Alverdtekoster Anyap and Mohd Alif Noni.
Among the prestigious awards presented at the KJA were the Premier Sarawak Award, Sarawak Energy Sustainability Journalism Award, PETRONAS Community Well-bring Journalism Award, Shell Business and Economic News Journalism Award.
Other awards were the Photography Award, Photo Essay Award, Broadcast Journalism Award, Sport Reporting Award, Digital Economy Journalism Award, News Reporting Award and Journalism Award Feature.
Gabriel Lihan Apat Ferguson and Neville Timothy Sanders won gold for the Journalism Award English Section as well as the Premier of Sarawak award for the English Language Print and Portal, bringing home a prize of RM5,000.
Noor Syahhira Hady won gold for the Sports Reporting Award while Sarah Hafizah Chandra also won gold for the Community Well-Being Journalism Award.
Nura Valentiana Lorna and Clement Erik Wong won gold for the Business and Economic Journalism Award while Mohd Alif Noni won gold for the Photo Essay Award.
Goh Pei Pei won gold for Sustainability Journalism and silver for Digital Economy Journalism.
Feature writer, Priscilla Tawie won silver for Sports Reporting and gold for News Reporting. She also won silver for Journalism, Feature and News Feature.
Noor Syahhira Hady also won silver for Business and Economic Journalism Award, and another silver for News Reporting while Sarah Hafizah Chandra also won silver for the Sustainability Journalism Award.
Besides that, Alverdtekoster Anyap won bronze for the Community Well-Being Journalism Award.
The award ceremony was held at the Imperial Hotel here yesterday.
Present at the award ceremony were Deputy Premier, Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, Minister of Transport Sarawak, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin, Deputy Minister of Tourism Creative Industry and Performing Arts, Datuk Sebastian Ting, and president of the Malaysia Press Institute, Datuk Dr Chamil Wariya and president of the Federation of Sarawak Journalists Association, Andy Jong Wan Joon.
