BINTULU: Narcotic police here arrested three local men and seized 1.5g of drugs believed to be syabu at Jalan Tanjung Batu on Thursday.

Bintulu OCPD Supt Batholomew Umpit in a statement, said the suspects aged between 27 and 40, were believed to be misusing drugs.

“Police found that two of them were in possession of four straw tubes containing drugs believed to be syabu with an estimated weight of 1.5g.

“They will be investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a fine up to RM100,000 or a jail term up to five years if convicted,” he said.

All three suspects, who tested positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine, will be investigated under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Batholomew added that the arrest was part of the police’s efforts to overcome the issue of substance abuse as well as prevent criminal activities in the district.
