MIRI: Police apprehended three youths, including two school dropouts, to assist investigations into the alleged rape of a 13-year-old.
The heinous act by the trio — two aged 16 and one 19 — was exposed after the 13-year-old girl, accompanied by her mother, lodged a police report.
The suspects were alleged to have committed the offence at a farm at Sungai Teniku, Jalan Miri-Bintulu at 9pm on Thursday.
The arrests were made a day after the police report and the first suspect, a 16-year-old, was picked up by police at 1.40pm while the other were detained at separate locations at 2.20pm.
It is learnt that the victim went with the suspects to another longhouse on motorcycles.
Along the way, they brought her to a farm where she was allegedly dragged to and forced to have sex with two of the suspects aged 16 and 19.
The victim returned home and told her mother of the incident which prompted the police report.
Miri district police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah confirmed the case but refused to comment further.
“Arrests have been made on Friday and investigation is now underway,” he said when contacted yesterday.
The case is being investigated under Section 375 of the Penal Code for rape.
