MIRI: Three people were rushed to Miri Hospital on Monday night after being assaulted by a group of 20 men who smashed their car at a traffic light intersection in Tudan.
A police report was lodged by one of the victims at 1am on Tuesday.
Prior to the incident, the trio were on their way to a “Rumah Asap” (barbecue shop) in Tudan from Lutong at around 11pm, when suddenly nine vehicles came and blocked their car.
Twenty men reportedly came out from the cars brandishing sticks, machetes and steel rods and inflicted serious injuries on two of the victims.
Police are investigating the motive of the attack under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.
