MIRI: A beauty salon owner and two of her clients were detained by the police during a raid on Tuesday afternoon for breaching the conditional movement control order (CMCO).

According to Miri police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah, the trio was detained around 5pm by the police during a raid carried out on a premises at Taman Desa Seri near Saberkas Bulatan here.

“The two clients are a married couple in their late 40s while the owner is in her late 50s,” Lim said yesterday.

For the record, during the CMCO, hair salons, massage parlours or beauty salons are still not allowed to operate in order to contain the spread of Covid-19.

The arrests were made under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulation 2020.

Meanwhile, five travellers who attempted to travel from Miri to other districts for the Raya-Gawai celebration were compounded yesterday.

Lim revealed that the travellers were compounded   during a CMCO roadblock near Lambir, Jalan Miri-Bintulu.
