MIRI: The closing ceremony of the second series of the “Ku Sentuh Hatimu” (Touching Your Heart) programme by the Malaysian Islamic Welfare Organisation (Perkim) Miri chapter saw strong participation from local schools today (Nov 3).

The programme engaged 69 students from six Miri schools who were identified as needing support due to behavioural or disciplinary issues.

Deputy Minister of Health and Sibuti MP, Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni, said that continuing these efforts would offer teenagers opportunities to improve their behaviour and future outlook.

Throughout the programme, students participated in activities designed to help them better understand and manage their personal challenges.

Perkim plans to expand participation in future series, aiming to reach even more students in need of guidance.

Additionally, students who show significant positive changes in attitude may be invited back as facilitators in subsequent sessions.

“These young facilitators will assist in mentoring their peers and supporting elderly community members, further embedding the values of responsibility and community care that the programme seeks to foster,” said Lukanisman.
