KAPIT: A truck driver and his two attendants were killed after their concrete mixer truck plunged into a ravine along Jalan Ulu Sungai Dap yesterday.

Kapit OCPD DSP Freddy Bian, who confirmed the case, said the fatal accident happened around 11am.

He revealed that the truck transporting cement, was travelling from Mujong to the road construction site at Ulu Sungai Dap.

The victims were identified as George Wong, 33; Bunyau Manggie, 40; and Steven Janggai Bungkang, 33.

Meanwhile, a spokesman from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Kapit station were also despatched to the scene, about 58km from the station, after receiving a distress call.

Upon arriving, the team confirmed the accident and found the truck in a 20-feet-deep ravine.

The victims who were trapped in the truck, were successfully extricated by the team using hydraulic rescue tools.

Their bodies were then handed over to the police to be taken to the hospital.
