KUCHING: An overview of a report was presented regarding the Education Workshop that was held on July 4 and 5.
The report was presented by chairman of The Sarawak Initiatives (TSI), Sidi Munan, to Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn during a recent meeting and discussion between both related parties.
“The report next will be taken up to the federal government soon.
“The workshop concluded that the general consensus of the participants, comprising educationist, academicians, policymakers, from a wide section of our community is that Sarawak would like to have autonomy in our education.
“That includes having the executive authority on human capital and resources, and training of teachers,” TSI said in a press release.
TSI added that land and funding issues were also discussed in the workshop.
“We believe that Sarawak autonomy in education is possible and important to prepare students to be resilient and globally competitive.
“Drawing upon their extensive decades-long experience in education, the participants unanimously concurred that there is an urgent need for a revolutionary transformation of the education system in Sarawak to enhance its quality,” TSI said.
