KUCHING: The Tsunami Dodgeball Club, a rising force in Kuching’s dodgeball scene, showcased its potential at the Sarawak Olympus Open held on November 16-17 at Champion Futsal Court in Miri.
The club fielded three teams—Tsuwave, Watashi Moo Deng, and Thunder Thighs—competing against some of the region’s top teams. While the tournament served as a valuable learning experience, it became clear that Tsunami held promising prospects for the future.
“We’re a new club, and it showed with some early nerves. But each of those games we played taught us something, and from there we’re all determined to continually improve ourselves,” said Felix Isadore, captain of Tsuwave.
“Dodgeball is about more than just physical skill—it’s about adapting to the pace, developing strategies, and building team chemistry.”
Tsuwave, led by Felix and vice-captained by Darren Robin, was the club’s standout team, reaching the quarterfinals before being eliminated by Kuala Lumpur-based Kokodile Back 2 Skul.
Watashi Moo Deng, captained by Kelvin Chan, showed significant growth throughout the competition, with Felix noting, “The team impressed in the later stages, despite being mostly first-time competitors outside Kuching.”
Thunder Thighs, captained by Reuben Ling, made notable progress as well, securing several victories despite being largely made up of amateur players. “For a team consisting mostly of newcomers, their progress was incredible,” said Felix.
Looking ahead, the Tsunami Dodgeball Club is eager to continue developing.
“We’ll focus on the fundamentals as there’s still much to learn. We’ve been inspired by those who take dodgeball seriously yet make it fun
“We hope to continue improving and gain more experience with each tournament.” said Felix as he looked into the promising prospects their humble club had to offer.
