KUCHING: A 24-year-old woman who suffers from tumour was rushed via a mercy flight by The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) yesterday from Kota Bharu to receive treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) in Kuching.

Cassandra Inja Umpi who was being treated at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia needed to undergo observation and intensive treatment by specialist medical officers at SGH.

RMAF in a statement today said that they flew Cassandra Inja, taking off from Sultan Ismail Petra Kota Bharu Airport at 12.10 pm and arrived at Kuching Air Force Base at 2.25pm.

“The patient was accompanied by her relative, Engdawie Engtingi, medical officer, Dr Karthigesu Murugan and seven RMAF officers.

“The flight was spearheaded by Major Hamdi Tajudin and assisted by Captain Mohd Alif Shamsuddin,” the statement said
