KUCHING: Former Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Muhammad Salahuddin, 96, leads the list of state awards given in conjunction with the 81st birthday of Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud today. He receives the state’s highest honours the Satria Bintang Sarawak (SBS) that carries the title ‘Pehin Sri’.
The late former chief minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Adenan Satem is posthumously awarded the same honours (SBS Posthumous).
Chief Minister Datuk Amar Abang Johari Tun Datuk Abang Openg receives the Datuk Patinggi Bintang Kenyalang (DP) that carries the title ‘Datuk Patinggi’.
There are four recipients of the Panglima Negara Bintang Sarawak (PNBS) award that carries the title ‘Dato’ Sri’. They are Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim, Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem, Datuk Fatimah Abdullah and Datuk Fong Joo Chung. Five others received the Panglima Gemilang Bintang Kenyalang (PGBK) award that carries the title ‘Datuk’. Leading this list is Snowdan Lawan followed by Talat Mahmood Abdul Rashid, Professor Dato’ Dr Mohamad Kadim Suaidi, Abdul Ajis Abdul Majeed and Professor Dr Awang Bulgiba Awang Mahmud.
The Darjah Jasa Bakti Sarawak (DJBS) that carries the ‘Datu’ title is awarded to four senior government officials namely Safri Zainuddin, Zuraimi Sabki, William Patrick Nyigor and Michael Dawi Alli.
Ten others receive the Panglima Setia Bintang Sarawak (PSBS) that carries the title ‘Dato’. They include Brig. Gen (rtd) Dato Muhammad Daniel @ Damien Abdullah, Ahmad Lai Bujang, Dr Yao Sik Chi, Rabiah Johari, Sharkawi Alis, Alex Ting Kuang Kuo@ Ting Kwang Kuo, Temenggong Helmi Mohd Gol, Bernard Aggan Assan, Goh Leng Chua and Yepni @ Yet Adenan.
Meanwhile, two others receive the civil service award of Johan Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (JPC) while 15 receive the Pingat Perkhidmatan Cemerlang (PPC) honours. There are 28 recipients of Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) medals, 62 receive Pegawai Bintang Kenyalang (PBK) medals, 142 receive Pingat Perkhidmatan Bakti (PPB) civil service medals, 83 get Ahli Bintang Sarawak (ABS) awards, 174 receive Ahli Bintang Kenyalang (ABK) awards, 164 receive Pingat Perkhidmatan Terpuji (PPT) civil service medals whereas Bentara Bintang Sarawak (BBS) award gets the biggest number of recipients at 253.
