KUCHING: The HELP Education Group, Ibraco Berhad and Cahya Mata Sarawak Berhad officially opened the Tunku Putra-HELP School at the NorthBank, Tabuan Jaya yesterday.

Officiating at opening ceremony was Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong, who was representing Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Among those present were the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and wife Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Raghad Kurdi Taib.

With them were Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister cum Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah; chairman of the Board of Governors of Tunku Putra-HELP School Datuk Syed Ahmad Alwee Alsree; co-founder vice-chancellor and president of HELP University Datuk Prof Dr Paul Chan; group chief executive officer of the HELP Education Group Datin Chan-Low Kam Yoke; Ibraco Bhd managing director Datuk Chew Chiaw Han; and Southern Capital Group Pte Ltd chairman Tan Sri Tan Teong Hean.

The school offers both national and international curricula for students at kindergarten, primary, secondary and A-Level.

The international programme adopts the British Education Curriculum which includes the widely-recognised IGCSE and Cambridge International Examination (CIE) A-Level qualifications, while the national programme offers the Primary School Standard Curriculum (KSSR) and Secondary School Standard Curriculum (KSSM) where students will sit for national examinations like UPSR and SPM.

Mathematics and Science will be further complemented with Singapore and British syllabi.

Combining the best of Western and Eastern education, students will develop higher order thinking skills (HOTS) of the 21st century.

Strategically located in the NorthBank at Tabuan Jaya, the residential heart of Kuching, the school boasts of the state-of-the-art facilities, two beautiful green courtyards and play areas, a three-storey multi-purpose building, six fully equipped science labs, design and technology facilities, an impressive performing arts theatre and dance studio, a spacious library and other school facilities such as swimming pool, football field, computer and tech labs, music rooms and art studios, sports hall and fitness gymnasium.
