KUCHING: State-owned television station TVS will collaborate with National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) to revive the film industry in Malaysia.
Sarawak Media Group (SMG) chairman Datuk Norhyati Mohd Ismail said TVS and Finas will soon ink a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for access to grants under the Creative Industry Immediate Economic Action Plan (Pelaksana).
“We want to be one of the media hubs across the region to promote and enhance the creative flair of fresh talents from Sarawak.
“We encourage local creative talents to be more involved to showcase what Sarawak can offer and what we’re capable of doing,” she said during the official launch of TVS at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) on Sunday (Oct 11).
Norhyati said local talents who wanted to venture into the creative industry could rest be assured that their talents and passion would not go to waste.
“These raw talents can be polished into becoming one of the most sought-after assets that will uplift Sarawak to a whole new level.
“We represent the voice of Sarawakians and give them an opportunity to showcase their creative talents as well as what Sarawak can deliver to the mass market,” she added.
