KUCHING: TVS will be broadcasting six episodes of Life, Recycled on Nov 22 at 6.15pm.
The series aims to educate the community about upcycling and to encourage the community to recycle as well as waste sorting.
“Life, Recycled will demonstrate, for example, how plastic bottles are sorted, shredded, washed, melted and then pelletised. It will also show how pelletised plastic can be used in the production of new items such as plastic bags, pipes, and even car dashboards.
“The series will be in English and Mandarin. It is directed and produced by Chong Kwong Chun,” TVS said on yesterday (Nov 17).
“The first episode will highlight the usage of cooking oil where it explains the significance of the need to recycle cooking oil.
“While cooking oil is one of the fundamental kitchen needs all over the world, unfortunately no one pays attention to where it goes after being used.
“Recycling used cooking oil is a crucial matter. The programme shares insights on the oil recycling process and how it helps to reduce pollution.
“For instance, the recycled oil can further be used as biodegraded oil to save the world from harmful impacts of other energy sources.
“This episode has a special purpose of making people be aware about recycling used cooking oil and how they can avoid producing 1,300 tonnes of cooking oil waste each day,” it said.
TVS added that other episodes would take viewers into the topic of e-waste, recycling paper, recycling food waste and more.
