KUCHING: TVS will create history when it commences broadcasting on Oct 10.
Sarawak’s very own TV station, TVS is slated to start broadcasting on a trial run in conjunction with the Head of State’s 84th birthday this coming Saturday.
TVS can be viewed via Astro channel 122 nationwide.
The idea to establish the TV station came from the Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud and is supported by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, said Sarawak Media Group (SMG) in a press statement on Wednesday (Oct 7).
Inspired with a goal to boost the local creative industry, the state government has assigned SMG to help Sarawak pioneer its way in becoming a media hub in this region.
The TV station would also act as a platform for younger creative talents in developing values for the community.
“It will be introducing programmes that are fresh and will inspire your world. With its fresh and inspiring tagline, TVS will ensure that you will always be entertained with the vast number of programmes from drama series to telemovies, documentaries, talk shows, animations and many more. Local creative players are invited to create and exhibit their ideas in the form of storytelling through their collaboration with TVS.
“With the presence of TVS, we can showcase and spread our cultural arts and tradition of Sarawak especially to our non-Sarawakian audience,” Abang Johari said during his recent visit from Sibu to Kapit.
As of now, TVS will also available to be enjoyed nationwide via Astro Njoi and Astro GO, Channel 122.
