KUCHING: Hope Finds Love, the first drama series by TVS is set to premier on June 1 in conjunction with the Gawai Dayak first day celebration.
TVS Marketing general manager Marianna Wong disclosed that the 13-episode romantic comedy features aspiring new faces in the creative industry.
She pointed out the drama series also showcases the uniqueness and beauty of Sarawak and its people for TVS viewers nationwide.
“One thing among others that makes this drama series unique is the use of Bahasa Melayu Sarawak. It is one of the efforts to highlight the various local dialects in Sarawak and we strongly encourage this at TVS.
“However, there will be Bahasa Melayu subtitles to facilitate our viewers from throughout Malaysia to understand and enjoy. We are very proud of the first-time actors and actresses who were scouted from casting.
“We hope that this drama series will be the steppingstone for the creative industry in Sarawak and for more parties to support the developing industry,” she said during the first exclusive media preview of Hope Finds Love yesterday.
The drama series is the beginning for TVS and there are more exciting programmes coming up, she added.
“I would like to thank the committee members from TVS and Vian Media who have worked very hard to truly ensure the success of the drama series.
“Moreover, TVS’s first drama series would not have materialised without the cooperation from various bodies including the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) and Sarawak Tourism Board (STB),” she said.
Wong explained the drama series follows the daily lives of individuals with different cultures and backgrounds coming together to entertain audiences of all ages.
It tells the tale of a romantic novel bestseller who realises she has been sharing the same fate as the characters in her novel and she decides to use her next novel to rewrite her fate.
The drama series was directed by Josh Nawan starring Michelle Lungan as Hope, Azam Pitt as Kimi, Samarinna Tolhip as Regina and Willy Alfred as Benji while the original soundtrack ‘’Hey Hey’’ is by Priwayat, a newly formed band.
With regard to the recent copyright issue relating to the drama series, Wong disclosed that the matter has been resolved between the production houses and writers.
“On behalf of TVS, we really commend the efforts by Vian Media in taking up ownership and responsibility to resolve the matter professionally.
“At TVS, we are highly committed to rewarding all deserving creative players and we would like to see more original ideas being showcased on TVS in the future,” she said.
Viewers can catch the drama series on next Tuesday (June 1) at 9:45pm on TVS channel 122 Astro and MYTV.
