After a month on the run, the twin siblings Rihana and Rihani, known for their pre-order iPhone scam, have been successfully apprehended by the police in Tengerang, Indonesia.
The duo were arrested at a rented apartment in M Town Gading Serpong, Tengerang.
According to detikcom on Tuesday (July 4), Rihana and Rihani are the prime suspects in an iPhone pre-order scam that caused losses amounting to Rp35 billion (RM10 million) for the victims.
Both individuals offered cheap iPhones for sale through pre-orders, targeting resellers and other sellers.
The modus operandi involved resellers making upfront payments for their orders, with the promised delivery to take place at a later date.
Unfortunately, many victims reported not receiving the products even after making the payments.
In addition to the pre-order scam, the suspects were also involved in car rental fraud.
