Two arrested for drug abuse

SARIKEI: Two individuals believed to be involved in drug abuse were detained by police during a raid at a premises here recently.
Sarikei District Police chief, Superintendent Mat Jusoh Mohamad said the 11.40pm raid on Wednesday was carried by a team from the district’s Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NICD).
He said during the raid, ten individuals were checked and two of them were detained after they tested positive for ketamine and methamphetamine.
“The suspects, aged 40 and 39, have been detained and the case is being investigated under Section 15 (1)(A) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952,” he said in a statement here, yesterday.
Mat Jusoh said the police would continue to carry out raids from time to time to rid the district of drugs.
