BINTULU: Two men who suffered from freak incidents were aided with special emergency services provided by firemen within 24 hours here recently.
In the first incident, firemen provided aid to a young man who got his ring stuck on his index finger on Monday (June 13).
Firemen were called to help with the second service involving a 29-year-old man who got his fingers stuck in the boost tool of a car yesterday morning.
Sarawak Fire Department assistant director of operations Henderi Ardimanshah confirmed the cases when contacted.
“On the first case, the victim called up the station at 8.25pm for help to remove his ring which got stuck on his finger.
“It took the team about 30 minutes to cut the ring using special equipment.
“Once it was cut off, treatment was immediately administered for the victim’s swollen finger before he was allowed to return home,” he said.
Regarding the second case, he added that the fire station received an emergency call around 10.10am whereby the victim went there personally with one of his colleagues.
The operation to cut the boost tool to free the victim’s fingers, took about 40 minutes using a hydraulic equipment.
Henderi said treatment was immediately administered to the victim’s injured fingers before he was allowed to leave the station.
