SIMANGGANG: Two cars burst into flames outside a workshop on Jalan Paderi just before midnight on Aug 1.

The Simanggang Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received an emergency call at 11.40 pm, and their team was on the scene just four minutes later.

“The fire involved two vehicles parked outside a workshop. One vehicle was completely engulfed in flames, while the second vehicle suffered 20 per cent damage,” it said.

Firefighters deployed two hose lines to battle the blaze. The situation was brought under control by 11.58 pm and the operation concluded at 12.01 am.

No injuries and casualties were reported while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Meanwhile in a separate case, a search and rescue (SAR) effort is underway by Bomba to locate a missing man in Tanjung Manis, Mukah yesterday (Aug 1).

According to the report, Bomba received a distress call at 11.56 pm regarding the incident, prompting an immediate response from the Tanjung Manis Fire and Rescue team.

The missing person, identified as a male with a disability, was last seen leaving his home to go fishing at a nearby ditch 500 metres from his residence.

The rescue team, comprising four personnel and equipped with a Hilux vehicle, is currently en route to the location, which is 18km from their station.
