KUCHING: International visitors will be put under two categories once they reach Sarawak.
According to the State Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, the categories are those coming directly from Singapore and those who transit from international countries such as London, Australia, Germany, Japan, and others.
“For the first category, they only need to register with MySejahtera and do a pre-departure test when they come to Sarawak. There wouldn’t be any more arrival tests for them. Hence, they may go straight and visit here.
“However, those who transit from other countries are required to register with MySejahtera and also do a pre-departure test two days before they depart,” he said.
He said this after his inspection on the preparation of border reopening at Kuching International Airport (KIA) yesterday (Mar 25).
He said that upon the arrival of the international transit passengers at KIA or Miri Airport, they will be required to do a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test two days before departure and a professional antigen rapid test (RTK-Ag).
“In a case where there are positive cases among them, we will use the standard operating procedure (SOPs) that we have to handle the situation,” he added.
As declared recently that travellers entering Sarawak from overseas will no longer need to apply through EnterSarawak or fill in the e-health declaration form once the state’s borders reopen on April 1.
Uggah said this was in line with the Federal Government’s decision to open the nation’s borders.
