MIRI: Two men managed to escape a death-defying crash but, one of them sustained severe injuries in the accident along Jalan Marudi yesterday.
It was reported that the accident happened around 1.10pm when their pick-up truck skidded and plunged into a 30-foot-deep ravine.
Firemen from Lopeng station were promptly despatched to the scene to commence rescue works.
Upon arriving, they found that the 66-year-old driver who was unharmed, managed to get out of the vehicle and climbed up to the road.
However, his 54-year-old passenger was thrown out of the vehicle during the crash and he suffered a fractured left thigh and other wounds.
The injured victim was later brought up to the road using a stretcher and was handed over to paramedics for further treatment.
After ensuring that the situation was safe, the team wrapped up the operation and returned to their station.
