Two choppers with 10 crew members crash in Lumut

KUALA LUMPUR: Two helicopters, a HOM (M503-3) and a Fennec (M502-6) collided at the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) Base in Lumut, Perak this morning.

The incident occurred during the flypass training for RMN’s 90th anniversary celebration scheduled for early next month.

According to sources, the two helicopters took off from Padang Sitiawan at 9.30 am before the HOM aircraft crashed on the steps of the RMN Lumut Stadium while the Fennec aircraft fell in the swimming pool of the Lumut RMN Sports Complex.

It is understood that the HOM helicopter (M503-3) carried seven crew while the Fennec helicopter (M502-6) carried three crew.

Earlier, a video went viral on social media showing a helicopter hitting the back of another helicopter before both crashed. – BERNAMA
