KUCHING: Police arrested two people in a drug bust at Kampung Bumbok, Jalan Batu Kitang here on Friday.
Padawan district police deputy chief DSP Merbin Lisa said the duo aged 16 and 24 were arrested at a roadside hut at 9.50pm, for drug possession.
“Upon further checks on the two suspects, we seized 6.25 grammes of crystalline substance believed to be syabu with an estimated street value of RM880.
“Initial screening of their urine indicated that both of them were positive for amphetamine,” he said in a statement.
Both suspects have been remanded for four days till July 10, to facilitate police investigation under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 12(2) of the same Act.
They face imprisonment of not less than two years and not more than five years including whipping if found guilty.
Merbin urged members of the public to provide police with information on drug activities in the fight against drug menace.
