SIBU: Six different crime cases were believed to have been solved following the arrest of two men, thanks to a report filed by a female victim.
According to Sibu Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, the cases include snatching, theft, cable theft, and one linked to commercial crime and the breakthrough came after a report was lodged by a woman on August 12.
“The woman claimed that on August 12 at about 11.41 am, while she was walking to Medan Mall along Jalan Tong Sang, her handbag had been snatched by a man on a motorcycle.
“The total loss she suffered was RM800 which included a handphone and several personal documents,” he revealed in a statement today (August 16).
Acting on that report, Zulkipli said that the police team managed to track down and arrest a 28-year old man at 8.10 pm on the same day.
“Police seized several items from the suspect including a motorcycle, several bank ATM cards, two handphones and a pawn shop receipt,” he added.
Meanwhile, at about 9.30 pm, another suspect who was the accomplice of the first suspect was also being detained and both men have been remanded for seven days until August 20 for investigation under Section 395 of the Penal Code.
