BAU: Two unemployed men here were arrested for drug abuse today (30 June).

Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said the two suspects were caught in two separate raids carried out by the Bau District Police Headquarters (IPD) Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (NCID) team.

He said first to be arrested was a 23-year-old man at a house in Kampung Apar, Singai at 9.30am.

“The suspect was apprehended in his bedroom while playing music and an initial urine drug test found him positive for syabu,” he said in a statement today (Wednesday).

He added police also found 1.13g of syabu in the suspect’s bedroom.

Poge said the second arrest was also made by the same team while inspecting a motorcycle belonging to a 31-year-old man in front of a house in Kampung Barieng, Singai at about 10.15am.

“They found a packet containing 0.54g of syabu. The suspect also tested positive for the same drug,” he said.

Poge said the two suspects had no previous criminal records. They will be remanded for further investigations under Section 12 (2) and Section 15 (1) (a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
