MIRI: Two men believed to be involved in drug trafficking were arrested in a raid conducted at two separate locations here yesterday morning.
Miri Deputy Police chief, Superintendent Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the two men aged 30 and 47 were arrested by a team from the Miri District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division (BSJN).
“The first suspect was detained in a house at Jalan Batu Niah at 7am and police seized three transparent plastic packets containing syabu weighing 5.26 grams with an estimated value of RM1,000.
“Meanwhile, the second suspect was detained at Jalan Bendahara at 9.45am and 18 plastic packets suspected of containing syabu with an estimated value of RM1,200 were seized from him,” he said.
Stanley said the drug was believed to be distributed in small towns around the city and Batu Niah.
He said one of the suspects was found positive for drugs.
“The two suspects will be remanded for further investigation and the case is being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, 1952,” he said.
