MIRI: Two people have fallen victim to a non-existent loan scheme.
State Commercial CID chief Supt Mustafa Kamal Gani Abdullah said in a press statement today that the two victims had incurred a total loss of RM8,356.
“The two cases involved a female clerk aged 21 and a 36-year-old male trader,” he said.
According to Mustafa, both victims saw a credit loan advertisement on Facebook before they received messages from the suspect who later offered them the loan.
The trader received a message on March 15 while the clerk on March 7.
“The victims had submitted their personal details to the suspect and were told to make cash payment first in order to have their applications approved,” he added.
The female clerk had banked in RM6,300 while the male trader banked in RM2,056.
They only lodged police reports after they realised that they have been cheated.
