SIBU: Two individuals were fined RM1,000 each for not complying with standard operating procedures (SOPs) enforced under the recovery movement control order (RMCO) yesterday (Oct 22).

Two men found not complying with physical distancing rule, thereby violating the SOPs during an inspection.

District police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the men aged 26 and 38, were arrested at an entertainment centre in Jalan Lau King Howe around 10.20pm.

The arrest took place in a joint operation carried out by the police along with Sibu Municipal Council and Sibu Division Health Office.

“During the inspection, the duo were found failing to comply with the physical distancing rule at the premises.

“They had violated Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures in Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2020,” he said in a statement.

Both violators are required to settle the fine within 14 days at the Sibu division health office.

Stanley reminded the public to always comply with the SOPs set by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and warned that police would continue taking stern actions against those found not complying with the SOPs.
