Two foreigners among 30 detained for gambling

KUCHING: Police detained 30 individuals, including two foreigners, for gambling offences in Sarawak in an anti gambling operation here on Sunday,

Sarawak CID chief SAC Dennis Leong Soon said the suspects, aged between 17 and 53, were arrested in Kuching, Padawan, Kota Samarahan, Bau, Sri Aman, Serian, Bintulu and Miri.

“In the raid, police seized cash worth RM3,405, 30 units of mobile phones, two units of laptop, betting slips and several other devises suspected to be used for illegal gambling activities.

“The suspects, comprising 17 men, including two foreigners, and 13 women were taken  to the police station for further investigation,” he said in a statement here yesterday.

The case was investigated under the Common Gaming Houses Act 1953.-Bernama
