KUCHING: Two friends found in possession of drugs weighing 7.43g were arrested in a raid at Jalan Kuching Bypass BDC-Stampin on Thursday (Nov 18).
District police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah, who confirmed the case, said a 30-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman were arrested by the district’s narcotic police around 10am.
Inspections led to the discovery of 14 plastic packets containing crystalline lumps, believed to be syabu, kept inside a sling bag belonging to the man.
“Both the suspects and the drugs weighing 7.43g, were brought to the police station for further action.
“The man tested positive for drugs while the woman was negative. Background checks also found that the woman had two past records while the man did not have any,” he said.
Ahsmon added the duo was being investigated under Section 39A (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for a jail term up to two years and up to nine lashes of the cane, if convicted.
