KUCHING: Head of State Tun Pehin Sri Haji Abdul Taib Mahmud received two courtesy calls at Astana Negeri in Petra Jaya near here, yesterday morning. The first courtesy call was from Minister of Entrepreneur Development Mohd Redzuan Yusof and his delegation.

The courtesy call was meant to convey the ministry’s wish to enhance co-operation between the state and federal government to assist entrepreneurs especially Bumiputeras.

The courtesy call was the first between Tun Pehin Sri Taib and Mohd Redzuan Yusof since he was appointed as Minister of Entrepreneur Development. Mohd Redzuan is on a four-day working visit to Sarawak from 4-8 September. He has met with Bumiputera entrepreneurs and also visited factories at Samajaya near here. Also present were Deputy Minister of Entrepreneur Development, Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli and Secretary General to the Ministry of Entrpreneur Development, Wan Suraya Wan Mohd Radzi.

The second courtesy call was from Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) Sarawak’s delegation led by Acting Director of Broadcasting Sarawak, Faridah Sulong. The coutresy call was meant to invite Tun Pehin Sri Taib to attend the final of the national level P. Ramlee singing contest (Pertandingan Bintang P. Ramlee) which will be held at Stadium Perpaduan Petra Jaya near here in the evening of 6 October. According to Faridah the contest is the 12th since the one held in 1988.

The event is also expected to be attended by Minister of Communication and Multimedia, Gobind Singh Deo. She also urged members of the public to come in full force to Stadium Perpaduan to watch the contest. Admission to watch the contest at Stadium Perpaduan is free. Also present was Chief Assistant Director Sarawak Region (TV Section), Erma Kartika Zaini.
