MIRI: Two men have been detained for allegedly raping a 17-year-old girl. The suspects, in their 40’s and 50’s were picked up about 12pm yesterday by a team from the Miri Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at a longhouse in Sungai Teniku.
One of the suspects is self-employed while the other works at an estate.
The duo was detained in connection with a rape case which reportedly occurred on March 5.
The victim is a young divorcee.
On Thursday, city police chief ACP Lim Meng Seah revealed that the police are still conducting investigation into the case.
The arrest was made following a police report lodged by the victim recently.
The incident allegedly took place at a longhouse in Sungai Teniku while the victim was sleeping that afternoon at the living room of her “bilik” when suddenly the first suspect came and lay down next to her.
The victim claimed that he raped her.
About an hour later, the second suspect came and also allegedly raped her.
The case is being investigated under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape.
